    Error reading registry key

    Hi,

I have formatted my computer, a few days back. Now I'm having a problem with my installation a new software on Windows xp computer . Recently I added some registry entries as part of the installation project that I wish to access in MS Word. Whenever I try to install a program, I get error message Error reading registry. Previously everything was working fine. What may be the problem ??

I think, you have the problem with the registry keys, To resolve your problem , I recommend you to use Download a Registry Booster for free and test it. If the program finds an error, then you should get the full version of the software and let it do its job. If this fails, then you might be having a corrupt software or installation file, try different copy of software which you want to install.

Check to see if he had given no explicit permission for the registry key in Windows XP. When you copy the key, not necessarily the permissions were copied, Try this: Go to Start> Shutdown and select 'Restart the computer in MS-DOS " In the blinking cursor, type the following commands successively pressing 'Enter' after each line: cd \
    cd windows \ command
    scanreg / fix
Scanreg The tool will now proceed to the reconstruct its registration, which may take some time. When finished, type exit or win, followed by pressing 'Enter' to return to Windows. Ctrl-Alt-Del work as well.

Probably because the registry key does not appear in the destination register. You can check this by mounting the target registry, you can do this by,
    1. Type regedit at a cmd prompt in the Hit Enter,
    2. Navigate to HKEY_ LOCAL_MACHINE
    3. Go to the File menu and click on "Upload section ..."
    4. navigate to the registry target [usually c: \ windows \ system32 \ config
    5. a load of hives - will probably be the "system" or "section of software in order to
    6. search the registry key missing
    7. after completing its investigation may be necessary to download the section before running the application again.
