The simplest way is to use a session for youself, where ALL your applications will be protected by a single password. User = one session. [User Account]. It is as if each user had his own computer and then no need to worry about it as no one can come and put his nose here or there. Otherwise, to lock a single application, there are ways through third party software, but I do not know, it seems much less practical...
Think what you are saying above because it may be misleaded. Applications are common and are used by all sessions and all users. All the user uses the same application Address Book. But the user account differences the user's preference and data from other even when using the same application. All the data of one user cannot be viewed by other user if the other user has no permissions...![]()
Thank you to you for your responses. I have my own user account, but very often I let the mac run on my user account. That is why I wish I could put a pass right on address book. Is this possible by any method? Please help...![]()
Apple's philosophy is NOT to put a password on an application but a secure area the user session and each user account is secure. And then there is sharing of some data selected by the user through the options for sharing between users options are very flexible, Private data are will be seen only by the user who's data it is and other will not be able to check it out. Shared data and files will be seen by everyone. Eventually you can create a joint user account to share data and put the rest on special individual Accounts...![]()
I don't think it is not possible, or at least not with a ready solution in the system. I also sometimes leave my session open when I leave my job. When you know you have to be away from your front screen often, you reduce the waiting time before sleep and you put a password to exit standby. That's what I do...![]()
You can try also AppDefender ( protects your applications by a password or USB Flash Drive, you can download and read more about it here ). But it's not free to use ( with trial period ).(
