Ubuntu wont let me update

Ubuntu wont let me update my system nor any specific software. I don't know what the problem is. I get 404 error when i try to update the system. Please help. I havent updated my system since ages and when i want to update it it wont let me update...

It seems that your update database is either out-of-date or corrupt. Ok, try to open package manager and try to reload its database. See what happens? If any more problems do post back, once the databse is reloaded and updated, you system will update without any problem. All the best!

If you get a 404 error there too that means your database is too old may be of the stone age period. You can try to add the repositories manually or you cna try to re-install Ubuntu, it better to install the latest stable version. Current stable version is 9.04.

I think i woul reinstall Ubuntu as soon as possible, which i think is the better option as i have a lot of junk residing on the disk. This way i would be able to free some space, but if i have any problem there, will post back, Thanks for the replies guys...
