    What is WLIDSVCM.EXE

I recently noticed a new process named WLIDSVCM.EXE appearing on my Windows Task Manager. But I am completely unaware of the fact that do I really need this process on my Windows Vista machine. I tried searching on google for this process but didn't find anything. Also my antivirus is not declaring this process as a virus and allows it to keep running on my computer. Do you know what is WLIDSVCM.EXE used for or belongs to? Can I remove this or not?

wlidsvcm.exe belongs to Microsoft Windows Live ID Service Monitor. It is a user invoked program and doesn't harm your computer in any way. It only consumes 1 MB of RAM averagely. It is stored in your C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Windows Live folder. Removing or stopping, however, doesn't affects your computer in any way.

I am unsure about this process which is running on your computer. However I didn't find any of such application or process on my Windows Vista installed computer. To make sure this is not a kind of virus, install MalwareBytes on your computer and run it to scan your computer. MalwareBytes is a great software that easily detects any kind of malwares on your computer and the good of it is that it is absolutely free!

WLIDSvcM.exe, as it describes itself, is the part of Windows Live developed by Microsoft. You can close wlidsvcm.exe at any point of time to free up your resources. It is located at your "Windows Live" folder. However if you are having some problem and found this process as the culprit then stop it and if possible delete it. But I am unsure if deleting could really solve the problem. Everything is at your own risk.

Specifically, those two processes are active when the Windows Live ID Sign-In Assist Service is active. I have disabled this without any problems of any kind. I have XP SP3.
