Re: Connecting Mac to mobile phone via bluetooth

You can connect your phone to your Mac using either IrDA or Bluetooth. Before you can pair your mobile device and Mac with Bluetooth, you’ll need to enable Bluetooth on your Mac.Many mobile telephones have an infrared (IrDA) port that you can use to connect to PowerBook computers that also have IrDA ports. Here is how to do all these process:-

On your Mac, check to see if there is a Bluetooth symbol on the menu bar. If there is, click the symbol and make sure that Bluetooth: On appears in the menu. If it does not, click Turn Bluetooth On.

    • Make your mobile phone "discoverable" to other Bluetooth devices. See the documentation that came with your phone for instructions.

    • Click the Paired Devices tab in the Bluetooth pane, then click New. A window appears, and your computer searches for your telephone.

    • When your computer finds your telephone, pair the two, making sure to select the "Address Book" and "Internet Access" options. For more information about Bluetooth, and pairing your computer with your phone, use the Help menu.

    • Open Address Book.

    • Make sure the Bluetooth logo in the upper left corner of the Address Book window is blue. If not, click the logo to associate Address Book with the telephone that you just paired to the computer.

    • Select a contact that has a telephone number.

    • Click the label for one of the contact's phone numbers (such as "home", "work", or "mobile"), and choose Dial from the pop-up menu.

    Thats it!!

Many mobile phones also work with Bluetooth, which is included with some computers, or which you add to your computer by purchasing a USB Bluetooth adapter. To connect your mobile with MAC, if you do not see a Bluetooth item on your MAC computer's menu bar, open System Preferences. If your Mac has Bluetooth hardware, a Bluetooth preference pane will be available. Click the Bluetooth icon to enter the pane, and make sure that the text Bluetooth Power: On appears. If it does not, click Turn Bluetooth On.You will also need to turn on Bluetooth on your mobile device and make sure that your Nokia device is sharing data.

To pair your Nokia device with your Mac over Bluetooth, make sure Bluetooth is enabled on your Mac.Your mobile phone should dial the contact, and you have confirmed that you can connect your phone to your Mac.You will also need to turn on Bluetooth on your Nokia device and make sure that your Nokia device is sharing data.If you do not see a modem icon in menu bar, go to System preferences from the Apple menu and click the Network icon:-
    • From list under Show, select Bluetooth
    • Click the Bluetooth Modem tab and Show modem status in menu bar and the icon will appear.
    • Click the modem icon in your menu bar and select Connect
    • While you are connected, the elapsed connection time is displayed
    • To disconnect, click on the modem icon and select Disconnect
