windows 2008

Hello,
i have a..little problem and i hope u'll be able to help me.
on a machine (microtower hp compaq dx7400) i have installed windows server 2008 enterprise, x86...with 6GB RAM...fresh intall...everything works great.

on another similar station i had windows server 2003, ent ed, x64,R2
in bios this machine see 8GB RAM (that;s the ammount installed)...but the windows 2k3 x64 works with only 3.2...So i made and upgrade to windows server 2008, ent ed, R2, x64...But the problem remains...in the OS properties it shows Istalled memory: 8Gb (3.24 usable)...

Maybe your bios is broken. If you use 32 bit OS, 4GB RAM is detected as 3.5GB RAM. The issue is more likely related to hardware. Try steps below to check it:

• Use the new 4GB RAM only. If system fails to start, the RAM chips may be damaged or not supported.
  
• Note not to mix different modules of RAM together. Different RAM chips may lead to potential problems.

i didnt use different RAM modules. identical 4x2GB modules. i;ve started the server with only (new) 4 GB...and the OS sees only 3.2 (OS windows server 2008 enterprise ed. x64 R2)

i ll try to virtualize the machine on a powerfull server...to see if the pb remains.
