    Windows Home Server dual installation

I want to install Windows Home Server on an older machine already running Windows XP Professional. So I decided to go for dual boot. But I am too worried about my dual installation. Has anyone tried it out, I mean dual booting a normal operating system along with a server? Is it possible? Can I have Windows Home Server dual installation?

I have never tried that combination but I have tried Windows XP / Vista dual boot and was just fiddling around my partitions. You can try it on a machine and see if this is possible. If its not then you can format your computer drive to get back to your Windows XP installation.

I don't think a server can be run on dual boot or else you may be experiencing a lot of issues when maintaining your server. If you are just do this for an experiment then you can install it on virtual machine. Virtual machine increase the hardware utilization and secures your computer from instability.

No, Windows Home Server doesn't expect to be dual booted with anything. Windows Home Server does not even allow you to choose what and where it is to be installed. So it is not possible to install on Virtual machine. There is no other possibility of achieving dual boot along with any other operating system. The only option that is left with you is installing on a fresh hard drive.
