    useradd: cannot create directory

    I have RedHat 9 and when i try to add a user id using 'useradd'. It does not create a home directory for the user. Is this normal? Do i need to create home directories for each user manually? I'm confused! Please help guys...

    The command useradd is used to add a new user in a linux based operating system. The home directories of each user have to be created manually. This is because home directories may have different locations unlike my documents in windows. This is normal and this is no error.

    Yes, Thats correct. Linux is a completely customizable Operating system. And this is a default functioning of any linux OS. You have to create the home directories for each user manually. Only the first user's home directory is automatically created when the OS is installing...
