WinDVD MFC Application has encountered a problem

I am getting the above message while playing the dvd on my DVD drive. Any idea what is the problem with my dvd or my computer? I am running Windows XP on my computer with 2 GB of RAM. I am using Corel WinDVD software to play my dvds.

Do you have some other software's like Nero or others that can play a dvd? I think it is clashing with you WinDVD software and thus restricting is play DVDs. I would suggest you to remove the software or else reinstall the WinDVD software once again and then try it once again.

Why are you still using WinDVD? There are many other softwares in the market which plays the DVDs in a much better way than this software. You can try out Nero or even Windows Media Player or VLC player which can play any kind of files.

Open My Computer, right click on the dvd drive and choose Properties. Now go to Auto-play. Look for DVD Movie and set it to play under winDVD always. Click on Apply changes. Or else you can also try playing the dvd with Windows Media Player with K-Lite Codec pack and if this works then I think windvd is the actual cause of the problem.
