    Task manger will not close

    Does anybody know how to restore the "Task Manager" in XP Home? It does not have the "X" close button on the right to click it off, so it just remains on the screen.i have noticed that hyc task manager stops working properly after certain time. it does not close applications. So now i can't exit task manager unless i log off.

    Double-click an empty white space around the border of the Task Manager and the Exit Button should reappear. I fixed my problem by dragging the "Task Manager," that had no "X" to cancel it, to my "Uninstaller" software icon. That immediately fixed the problem by removing this "Blank Task Manager," and low and behold, revealing the original Task Manger behind it.

    I Assume that you have task manager is already opened in background then run the following code on your machine.

    dialog("text:=Windows Task Manager").close
    If you are able to read the code then you will able to close the task manager.

    This is because your task manager has switched from normal display mode to tiny footprint mode. Usually when you double click the empty space in the border around the tabs or else you may use the following key to close the task manager
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Policies\ System
    • In the right-pane, delete the value named DisableTaskMgr
    • Close Regedit.exe
