'Make Sure the Correct HAL is Installed' - Windows XP

I have an intel board with two serial ata har drives installed that supports RAID setup on a Windows XP Service Pack 2 machine. Now, to mirror the 2 hard drives I used the Intel Rom RAID and everthing went fine but the problem is when I try to boot from the second hard drive I get an error message saying that hal.dll file is missing. So can anyone tell me how to make sure the Correct HAL is Installed ? Thank you

To solve your hal.dll file missing issue follow the steps below:
    Option 1:
Boot from your CD and follow the directions to start Recovery Console. Then:
    Attrib -H -R -S C:\Boot.ini
    DEL C:\Boot.ini
    BootCfg /Rebuild
    Fixboot

    Option 2:
Boot from your CD and follow the directions below to start Recovery Console.

Insert the Setup compact disc (CD) and restart the computer. If prompted, select any options required to boot from the CD.
When the text-based part of Setup begins, follow the prompts; choose the repair or recover option by pressing R.

If you have a dual-boot or multiple-boot system, choose the installation that you need to access from the Recovery Console.
When prompted, type the Administrator password. (if you didn't create one try pressing enter).

At the system prompt, type Recovery Console commands; type help for a list of commands, or help commandname for help on a specific command.

Most likely you will need to expand the file from the CD. The command would be expand d:\i386\hal.dl_ c:\windows\system32\hal.dll. Substitute d: for the drive letter of your CD. Once you have expanded the file type "exit" to exit the Recovery Console and restart the computer.

I think that you dont need the 3rd party software for installing xp,simply install xp cd, boot to cd,recovery, press enter for password, then at cmd screen typeiskPart. In DiskPart, delete the partition, create one, then press Esc Back in cmd type: FORMAT C: /FS:ntfs When its thru type:EXIT XP should install auto,if it doesnt reboot to xp cd,select install xp.

Yes, if you have the Windows XP install cd then with the following commands given above you can easily fix the missing hal.dll file problem. If you need some more suggestions then check out similar topics made on this forums: missing windows root\system32\hal.dll.
