It shows the error message "Windows cannot find iexplore.exe". I have tried to Reset IE through the Control Panel and also tried to start IE in safe mode but same error. What has happened and what is the solution? Can anyone help!!!

Windows cannot find iexplore.exeThis issue may occur if you have deleted the Iexplore.exe file from your computer, or if you have moved it from the \Program Files\Internet Explorer folder.
    • On the Start menu, point to Search, and then click For Files or Folders.
    • In the Search for files or folders named box, type iexplore.exe. In the Look In box, click Local Hard Drives, and then click Search Now.
    • Insert the Microsoft Windows Millennium CD into the CD or DVD-ROM drive.
    • On the Start menu, click Run.
    • In the Open box, type msconfig, and then click OK.
    • In the System Configuration Utility dialog box, click Extract File.
    • In the Specify the system file you would like to restore box, type iexplore.exe, and then click Start.
    • In the Restore from box, click Browse, and then browse to the X:\Win9x folder where X is your CD or DVD-ROM drive, and then click OK.
    • In the Save file in box, click Browse, browse to the Program Files\Internet Explorer folder, and then click OK.
    • Click OK to extract the file.

Try a System Restore if it doesn't solve the problem then you need to reinstall the IE.Another option could be to pick a registry backup. You can also try Antivirus scan because explorer.exe is some times detected as Trojan or virus.

    Re: Windows cannot find iexplore.exe

iexplorer.exe is the file that opens your browser. Without that file your internet browser will not open and whenever you try to open it will display message Windows cannot find iexplorer.exe. "c:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE" is path for iexplorer.exe if it exist then no problem, if not then try to reinstall IE and try again.

Check this thread to solve the problem :

    iexplore.exe error
    IExplore.exe running in background

    Re: Windows cannot find iexplore.exe

Sorry, I am having the same problem with iexplorer!

I have done the search manually and with XP's search engine, but no cigar. I even updated iexplorer, installing version 8, but still could not find iexplorer.exe. I know it is there somewhere because it is open and working, but I have to use a little trick of opening a GIF file in a newsreaderr program for it to activate. The newsreeader program cannot read GIFS on its own, it uses iexplorer to view a GIF. Otherwise, I cannot open iexplorer, despite updating, despite reinstallation. The new installation didn't even offer the option of putting a shortcut on the desktop or in the quickstart menu.

This is incredibly strange considering it is a microsoft program running on a microsoft operating system, XP.
