    shell notify failed

    Hello to all,

Few days since I have a crash on startup of Ubuntu (it had already happened several times before, I reinstalled ubuntu), so I put Debian and openSuse to test (being distrib oldest thus stable ?), but I have failed.

Introduced myself to write on paper and then below that gives me my pc at the problem at startup (before the login window).

    Code:
Unable to resolve 'UUID = 89e46d25-9d1b -45a7-89ec-ef408ed11887 'fsck died with exit status 8 [FAIL] ± Œ File system check failed. A log is being saved in/var/log/fsck/checkfs if that location is writable. Please repair the file system manually. Œ ± A maintenance shell will now be started. CONTROL-D will terminate this shell and resume sytem boot. bash: no job control in this shell bash: groups: command not found bash: less pipe: command not found bash: Command: command not found bash: The: command not found bash: dircolors: command not found bash: Command: command not found bash:
Are what anyone would have an idea of the cause of the problem and how to fix it? please

/dev/hda1 has been placed swap partition?

Either the file system on that partition has been changed?

In any case, check the uuid of the partition.

    Re: shell notify failed

It gives what on your system. It should list the UUID available on your PC.

If I am not too stupid, but I am not an expert:

    /dev/hda1 => IDE
/dev/sda1 => SATA drive (or SCSI?)

So, it would not partition 1 on the IDE drive.

But sends the output of blkid.

    Re: shell notify failed

I managed to solve my problem and return to my favorite OS Ubuntu!

I change from opensuse/etc/fstab of ubuntu and I put a "#" in front of all lines on hda1, then I managed to go on Ubuntu, then I mounted the partitions hda with the graphical tool System> Administration> Storage Device Manager (good practice).

    What gives me for /etc/fstab:

    Code:
    #/Etc/fstab: static file system information. # # <file System> <mount point> <type> <options> <dump> <pass> # proc / proc proc defaults 0 0 # / dev/sda2 UUID = 065b2b0f - 2ff2-4d09-ba51-440b4c651197 / ext3 defaults, errors = remount-ro 0 1 # / dev/sda3 UUID = 223b2001-FC27-4128-9c15-2ffc7a25d045 / home ext3 defaults 0 2 # / dev/hda1 # UUID = 89e46d25 - 9d1b-45a7-89ec-ef408ed11887 / media/hda1 ext3 defaults 0 2 # / dev/hda5 UUID = # c0644c6f-7e8c-4201-ABCE-73d0d535c7c4 none swap sw 0 0 # / dev/sda1 UUID = 76215367-0620-41aa - a0f2-7d492e0ec834 none swap sw 0 0 # / dev / hdb / media/cdrom0 udf, iso9660 user, noauto, exec 0 0 # mount gmail / usr / share / gmailfs / gmailfs.py / mnt / gmail gmailfs rw, noauto, username =**********, password =*********, fsname =********* # / dev/sdb1 / media/sdb1 vfat defaults 0 0 # / dev/hda5 / media/hda5 swap defaults 0 0 # / dev/hda1 / media/hda1 ext3 defaults 0 0 # / dev/hda4 / home ext3 defaults 0 2 / dev/hda1 / media/hda1 swap defaults 0 0 / dev / hda2 / media/hda2 ext3 defaults 0 0 / dev/hda3 / media/hda3 ext3 defaults 0 0 / dev/hda4 / media/hda4 ext3 defaults 0 0
