d3d8.dll not found?

hi,
what about my system: I have Windows XP with a GeForce 8800GT, 3GB Ram DDR2. Have DirectX9.

Now to my problem:
As soon as I start a game, the error comes, "The procedure 'Direct3DCreate8 was in DLL' d3d8.dll 'not found. I think it's something with my directX so i installed 9.0c, but it didn't helped.

Any suggestions?

DDRAW stands for DirectDraw wich is a service of direct X

what i reccomend is the following..

click start, run
then type dxdiag

a box will pop up. and run thru the tabs and do all of the tests all of them. and then save the log. if eveything checks out. things should go well.

try downloading the dll file. then put it in the folder where it is linked. if it is in two seperate folders or more. download again and unzip into that dir.have you recently installed drivers or anything?

‘A required .DLL file, D3D8.DLL was not found’ appears when trying to launch the game.This means you need to install the latest version of Microsoft’s Direct X.

Download and install the latest version.

If a file is missing, then reinstalling DirectX could correct it.The DirectX installer can be run as many times as you want.

Note that, if you are currently using DirectX 8 and you install DirectX 9c, you cannot "go backwards" and install DirectX 8 again. If you upgrade the version of DirectX, the upgrade is not reversible.

If you bought a video card recently, it might have a copy of DirectX on the CD. Copies of the DirectX installer can be obtained from more places than directly from Microsoft.
