Taskbar freezes at start up

Hi,

I have a problem with my task bar. Each time I connect to the internet my taskbar freezes (Windows XP Home). I have to press alt+ctrl+del several times to unblock it (I'm not sure if this actually helps).

When the thing has frozen it does not appear. If one then goes to Task manager, everything is running properly, the CPU usage is minimal and on exiting everything works again.

What applications that are running, when you connect to the net. Do you use a propitiatory software package or a generic dialup connection?

Hi,

I have the same problem, If I try to use cont-alt-del to shut programs down, I get numerous "blue screens of death". I am wondering if I have this requires a trip to the computer shop, or if I have programs that are interferring with each other. Nothing new has been downloaded, nothing has changed. I have scanned for viruses, defraged and scanned the disk.

Hi,

When it happens you can still switch between programs by hold the ALT key and pressing TAB until you find your desired window.

Something in the back of my mind seems to say that a dodgy Windows Explorer window may cause this so try end tasking them using Task Manager and it may correct itself.
