File disappears after download in vista

Hello friends,

After download of any file from internet in any directory, file download has been successfully completed, but the file cannot be found in any directory. Can anyone tell me how to fix this problem?

Try to uninstall all updates you've installed. Go to the control panel and disable UAC (User Account Control). Restart you systen and enable UAC again. Give a try.

Take a look in users/download it might be in there. If you gave a folder in the root of the C drive you don't have permission to do anything there.

You might check the following locations:

C:\Users\$user$\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\Low
C:\Users\$user$\appdata\Local\VirtualStore

The AppData folder is hidden, and it is inside your user folder, not the users folder. To get to it, you can type it directly in to the address bar at the top of the explorer window.
Type: C:\Users\NAME\AppData and Press Enter.

I was having this problem in Windows Vista 64 Ultimate. It being an issue with AVG 8.0. I checked my installation of AVG free 8.0 and noticed it was not installed correctly. I reinstalled AVG and the problem is gone.
