Windows installation encountered an unexpected error

i have Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550,Mainboard: Gigabyte GA-EP45-DS3,Graphics card: SAPPHIRE HD 4850 512MB GDDR3 PCI-E,Hard Drives: Samsung S-Ata, 2x 160GB, Samsung 1x 500GB,CD-Rom: LG 52x S-ata DVD-Rom: LG 16x,S-ATA DVD burner: SH-223f,Samsung S-Ata, 2x 160GB, Samsung 1x 500GB.i installed windows xp sp2 on one partition and vista on another partition it gives me error 0xE0000100.i restarted the installation but same thing happened again. Any recommendations and suggestions are appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help.

This problem occurs because Windows Vista setup does not recognize a partition if the last DWORD value of the partition size is 0. The partition on which Windows Vista is installed is larger than 40 gigabytes (GB). Additionally, the size of the partition is a multiple of 4 GB. You run Windows Vista Setup. you delete the existing partition on which Windows Vista is installed. when you try to create a new partition this problem comes.

You have to do more than just format, you need to remove the Vista-created partition and rebuild it with Win2K's setup disks.As to installing Vista with the upgrade key, you just need to do it twice: the first time without the key, the second time as an in-place upgrade with the key.

if there are exisiting partitions delete the partion in windows using managment then vista will pick it up once you restart install,Problem existing partion of windows xp was installed on 320gb deleted the partion "unallocated space" totally cleared install to other system setup vista dont enter serial change later on windows boot, hdd picked up no errors.
