Reboot and select proper boot device : black screen

    I lower my pc unbootable.
Yesterday it worked very well, today I turned on and a black screen with writing:

"Reboot and select proper boot device or insert media device and press a key"

That someone has a solution I propose without formatting?

My priority is boot from the CD drive and my 3rd place.

I also saw the need to remove the battery from the motherboard and return a few minutes tard.Cela work?

    Thank you in advance.

For the battery I do not know, but see if your BB is plugged in and if your BIOS if it is detected.

Hi, testing to see in your bios if your HDD is well recognized,
if so then look in the "boot" (or something similar) if your hard disk is present.

Hi, check that you do not have storage devices connected to your PC other than your HD.
Example: On an old laptop when I reboot with a USB key plugged it, trying to boot on it. And I had a error message "No boot device" at startup.

I unplugged the HD, then reconnected, nothing is inserted as USB or another and I even put my HD in 1st position.

I found it on the Internet:

"- Start on the Windows XP CD to start the Recovery Console (the key" R ")
    - Type the command: chkdsk / r
    - Type the command: fixboot
    - Restart the pc "

Probably dead hard drive. Can you tap F8 after pressing power button and boot to safe mode?
