Windows Sbs Server Premium Running Slow

I have just taken over this organisation's IT network.

We are running sbs 2003 premium editon and running
    exchange server
    sql server
    ISA SERVER 2004
We have got 30 users who access network regularly.

LAST THREE WEEKS our server is running very very slow. Users unable to open their outlook or access network. In the end we have to restart the server and it runs fine after rebooting.

I have checked the process running on the server and also changed the sql server memory options.

The server is running on intel p4 2.4 ghz with 4 gb of ram.

I know server processor is very weak but what causing confiusion is that server runs fine after rebooting.

    Any help would be great.

    Ray

Have you tried running this utility?
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/177415
This will help determine if there is a memory leak...and what is causing it.

Also, they don't recommend SQL server and Exchange server be on the same box, especially if there's any sort of load. Both of those are pigs for memory.

I know a person with less than 30 users using one SQL database, and that machine runs about 1.7 gigabytes of memory used by the SQL server after a day or two, then it stabilizes.

If the customer can survive without it, shut off one or two of the processes - like Exchange, and see how much the performance changes. It'd be best if you did it once it starts going extremely slow.

Make sure that DNS is set up properly on your Server and it points to itself, and also make sure that the Client is looking for the Server, for it's primary DNS.

Any ISP or external DNS Servers should be set in Forwarders on the properties tab of the DNS Server console.

Do an ipconfig /all on both Server and a Workstation and compare it to see if you have any discrepencys.
