WindowsXP won't boot, no error message

    Hi,

i have a strange problem with windows XP. After shutting down the computer yesterday, it won't boot anymore. It goes through all the bios processes until the point when it should boot from HD, at that point, suddenly nothing happen's anymore (i don't even hear any harddrives working).
I tried the windows repair console. The partition table looks like it should (except for a floppy drive a:, that shouldn't be there...), fixmbr helps nothing.
I'm currently online with a linux live cd, which may read and write on all harddrives, so they should work correct.
Since there isn't even a error message i have no idea what i could try to fix the problem

    greetings,
    roman

Unfortunately not, have read it before posting and it deals with a whole different problem. Actually i'm sitting in front of my computer (via Kubuntu Live CD), so any major component definetely is working (At least i can access all my harddrives).

Does it restart from where it should boot from HARDDISK? if yes then you might have deleted your NTDETECT.COM File.

It doesn't restart, it just stops doing anything right at the point it should boot. (If I set bootorder 1.) DVD-Rom, 2.) HDD it stop's right after the "Boot from CD" message (as long as there isn't anything bootable in the tray) )
I've two NDETECT.COM, one in c:\ (which is the windows partition), the second in c:\Windows\WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles\i386\, since they've the exact same filesize i guess they are the some

Have you tried taking the motherboard out of the case, and hooking it all up, it could be a short caused by a design, or misplaced motherboard riser. It could also be you are overclocking ram, or the settings for the ram. Do you know if you have updated anything right before the problem starts, do you have a easy bios auto updater? any other auto updaters?
