Vista running too slow

I have a machine with Vista Ultimate 32bit on it with 4 gigs Ram. Unfortunately this is the slowest operating system that I've ever used. It took 2 mins for me to copy a file of size 100 kB from one folder to another which was not the case with my previous system with XP installed. Is this Vista problem or something else? Any thoughts?

Possibly:

Virus, Trojan, spyware, or any other form of malware.
Use Microsoft's Disk Defragmenter to defragment your hard drive. This will make it easier for your hard drive to access data.
Maybe your hard drive is to its max. Remove unnecessary things that you don't even need.

This is a question that I keep on asking but didn't got any answers. I think MS Vista is the worst OS that Microsoft ever made.

Install SP1 which fixes this issue. It solved many of the problems on my system.

Hi,
Compared to other OS of MS, Vista in more advanced. But only the thing that very slow in process.

I am using Vista Home Basic with 4GB of RAM and Intel Core 2 Duo and my Vista runs very well without any issue. IMO vista beats xp hands down as all the problems I have are now fixed.

i have a q6600 q-core 2.4ghz, windows 64bit, MSI p6n v/1 sli, EVGA GTX260, 8gb ram ocz gold 800mhz, sata 500gb hd 3gbs 7400 rpm, blue orb cpu cooler,
my system runs fairly slow like when you load a disk it takes it forever to read the disk befour it ask me to do something with it. why is my system so slow?
ps this configeration is bad to the bone it will run any game FEAR, CALL OF DUTY 4, CRYSIS WARHEAD, BIOSHOCK, i would just like to know why it is so slow on everything elts? please help thanks
