    Configuration of VLAN using NetGear GS716T switch

    This is the first time I am setting up my VLAN's and I am stuck here. Now I am looking for a major help to resolve it. I want to configure two VLAN's with this switch but I couldn’t able to do it yet. I tried resetting to default 2 times so that I could start from the scratch. My setting is as needed.

    AP --> Untangle Server --> GS716T Smart Switch --> Pc 1 --> Pc 2

    I want both PC to connect to the internet but I don’t want those PC’s to communicate each other. I don’t know whether it is possible or not but I am thinking about adding another switch and expand from there. What do you suggest?

    I am also looking for to do something similar like that. Currently I have 2 groups of PCs in which I need broadband connection but don’t want both to see each other. I know that by setting up the VLANs, it could be a possible but in my case no matter what I do, the second VLAN does not able to connect to the internet. I think I am missing something.

    VLANs are there to separate networks. Often there is not enough wire and it is not at all necessary to have a lot of bandwidth for each connection. So you can just summarize in a string, which works for all devices is completely transparent. Only the switches of the VLANs to know and operate it.

    VLANs Netgear goes on in the following way:
    1. Login / Switching / VLAN / Basic / VLAN Configuration
    2. Enter the sub-VLAN ID as 100 under VLAN name can be entered a speaking note. Then ADD button at the bottom right.
    3. Thereafter, VLAN Membership, VLAN ID (100) to assign the ports that belong together and that a U for untagged. Press bottom right APPLY
    4. Port PVID Configuration: Select to enter in the above ports and PVID 100th. Press the bottom right APPLY.

    That should be it.
    • The VLAN ID is attached within the switch to the Ethernet frames (IP packets).
    • Untagged means that the switch in the VLAN ID to leave the package is removed.
    • TAGGED does this mean the switch as it is (with the VLAN ID tagged) outwardly sends the packet to another VLAN enabled switch.
    • The port PVID determines the VLAN ID per port, the packets arrive at the switch is added.

    So you are asking about the SEPARATE VLAN ports (networks) on a switch

    Each port of the switch receives a PVID (VLAN ID) to each IP packet (Ethernet frame accurate) that arrives without a tag will be stamped. The switch distributes IP packet is now assigned to all ports to this VLAN ID. If a port is configured untagged IP packet leaves the switch without the stamp of the PVID for those ports that are configured the IP packet is tagged with the PVID sent to the outside.

    I think what you intend to have worked so not with VLAN because VLAN divides the network from each other, but you need to port 1 on both networks (Green and TV). All you'd have to either fire back tag or disconnect the systems on the fire or you are using the TV for the Orange / Blue interface is then connected to a switch port and the same VLAN as port 16 is.

    One thing you always need to know here is, whenever you set a multiple VLAN's (Subnets), you must have a router to route traffic among different subnets (VLAN's).Along with this you also need to have a gateway. Otherwise, they will not able to communicate with each other or no internet access. .
