External Storage Device with ESET Smart Security 5

I am having following system specification:

• Windows XP SP3
• AMD Phenom x4 945
• 4gb RAM

And when I am trying to insert the external storage devices like portable harddisk, at that time I get that my windows will partially freezes. And at that time the only way to reset this is to force the system to restart using the power button, at that time ctrl-alt-del does not work. And my windows work fine when I insert the external storage devices before booting into windows. And I have also noticed that this problem do not occurs on the Windows 7 computers. I start getting this problem after I have updated to the ESET Smart Security 5. Can anyone here suggest me some suggestion about this??

Yes, for your problem I will say that this is huge bug in the 5.0.94 version, I have seen this common bug with the so many of the users. For getting resolve this, I will say to you to go back to the previous version and then wait till the new version comes out which don’t have this problem.

I have bought the new ESET Smart Security v 5.0.94.0 and installed on a Lenovo Thinkpad notebook which is running on the windows XP OS. And with this, I am having the exact same problem as you are having. And for resolving this problem I have tried with the advanced setup and set up the Removable Media blocking rule. to allow read/write access rights to this removable media. But this also not helped me for resolving the problem. For you also I will say to try with the same setting, hope that this helps you. Please reply me back about the result. .

Ok thanks for replying me about the suggestion. Here I would like an update, if possible. I tried with that also which you have suggested to me, but still there I found that this is not helped me, but thanks for that. Anyone else with the same problem??

Dude, I am also having the same problem. I get this problem when I am trying to connecting my western digital external hard disk at that time I get that my computer freezes and for resolving this issue at that time I have to restart the system using the power button. At the starting of this problem I was thinking that this is compatibility issue between ESET and truecrypt. But now I can see here that this si not lie an compability issue, this all problem occurs on both the ESS 5.0.94.0 and older ESS 5.0.93.0 however it works fine with ESS 4.2.72 installed. And now I am using the ESS 4.2.72 in my system and I am not getting that type of the problem again, for you people also I will say to use the same version and I am sure that you will also not get the problem.

Friends, in my case I get locked up with the ESS version 5 in this morning only when I was trying to insert the eSATA drive. I am sure that this was worked very fine yesterday, I had tried it once yesterday. What should I try now to resolve this problem?? For each time when I insert the eSATA drive at that time I get that this get lockup and I cannot do anything with this. I have to restart the system each time.

Ok friends, here I can see that so many of the people are having this same problem with the version 5. So for that reason I think that you all should try with the previous version only. This is because there is not setting for resolving this problem and no on have get resolve this problem yet so I think that you all will need to use the version 4 only because that version is not having this external drive lock up problem, or else you can also wait till ESET will release a new update with this FIX.
