Norton Power Eraser detects an error after booting

I purchased a PC last month. I normally use the PC for internet surfing, gaming, chatting and especially for downloading movies. I have Norton Power Eraser in my PC. I normally use this tool to scan for the rootkits. But I came across a strange issue while using this tool. This tool always detects an issue on “System32/Drivers/RIKVM_9EC60124.SYS”. Whenever I boot my PC and have a new scan then the issue is again detected by Norton Power Eraser. This is irritating me a lot. Is anyone aware about such issues? If yes then please do the needful.

The issue that you have posted is not difficult. But before I continue further to surmount the issue the information that you have provided linked to issue is incomplete. I would to like to know which operating system is installed in your system. Only after knowing that I would be able to provide you the suggestions that you need to overcome the issue. Try to give me the information as early as possible so that I can tell you the exact solution to overcome the issue.

I am very grateful to you for interacting with me to overcome the issue. As I am not having much technical knowledge due to this I am finding the issue more difficult. I will certainly give you the information that you need. The operating system installed in my system is Windows 7. I have recently upgraded to windows 7. The information that you needed is posted by me, now please provide me the suggestions so that I can surmount the issue.

It is an interesting issue that you have posted. Many people have discussed such issues with me before but at that time I could not provide them the exact solution. It is very difficult to identify the exact cause for such issues. I think that the system file RIKVM_9EC60124.SYS which is detected is supposed to be a Wi-Fi driver. I want you to verify this on the device manager to see if there is anything wrong with this driver. Check it out and you will come to know the exact cause of the issue.

After I read your post I came to know about your issue. As specified by you I verified the system file in the device manager but I could not find that file over there. I am not able to find this system file where Norton says it is placed. I am not able to submit this file for analysis but the Power eraser permits me to delete this file which I don’t want to do. Are you aware about any other solutions to overcome the issue? If yes then please tell me about it.

Such issues are quite common with many people. I know that such issues are very annoying. To solve the issue I would recommend you to download the tool Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP). After downloading this tool start the SEP Support tool. After that, choose the option "Load Point Analysis". It will find the exact location of the infected file. You can also remove that file from your system using this tool. It totally depends on you to decide whether you want to keep that file or just delete it.

Thanks a lot for all the responses and advise that you have given me to surmount the problem. Your suggestion helped me a lot to solve the issue. Previously I had discussed this issue with my colleagues but they could not help me to overcome the issue. You are the first person who supported and helped me. I performed all the steps that were specified by you and it was successful, it did not completely solve my issue but it helped to certain extent. It was not possible to solve the issue without your advice.
