Luckily they all were test machines, so I did not lost much data. Also this problem seems to be happening after I performed update in my AVG antivirus. Please help me.

The AVG antivirus will force your system or any of the other application to crash if you have installed any other antivirus or antispyware in your system along with it. Many applications especially other antivirus and antispyware are having compatibility issue between them, thus forcing both the applications to perform differently and hamper the performance of the system. So I would recommend you to get rid of any of the antivirus, if you are having two. The choice is totally yours as it’s you who will be deciding which one of the antivirus meets your desired requirement and which doesn’t.

I would recommend you to make sure that you are installing the update for your AVG 2011 free antivirus from the official website of AVG and no other sites. You can update the Virus database and definition of your AVG by clicking on Update now option in the GUI of AVG application. Or you can directly download the Virus definition from the official website of AVG and then separately install it in your system. Either do the updating automatically or manually. Restart you system after updating your AVG and check out whether you are still facing the issue.

According to me, there is some kind of problem with your AVG antivirus. It might have got corrupted or some of its file might have been gone missing from your system and that is why you are facing this issue. So it is better if you uninstall the AVG form your system and even remove all the related files. Then download the latest available setup file of AVG from Internet and clean install it in your system. Make sure that no error occurs while you are installing it. A smoothly working AVG might not cause any kind of trouble to your system.

Re: Windows XP/7 machines are crashing after updating AVG

Thank you, guys for your time and effort. I really appreciate your suggestions. I tried everything which you guys have mentioned in your suggestions but nothing seems to be working for me at this moment. I uninstalled/reinstalled AVG in my system, made sure I have not installed any other antivirus, antispyware along with AVG, but nothing seems to be helping me out. It seems the Windows crashes only when I am trying to run any browser, Internet explorer or Google Chrome. The new update seems to be causing this problem, according to me. Please help me with your quality suggestions.

I am also facing the same issue. The only solution which I found to have worked for me at this moment was, either uninstalling the AVG installed in my system, or just removing the latest update which I had installed in my system. The problem occurred after updating AVG, so I just removed the update and luckily the problem has minimized. Now I am just waiting for AVG tech team to notice this issue with their latest update for AVG 2011 free edition antivirus and wait for them to solve this issue in their new update.

I would suggest you to perform the following in both of your Window XP and Windows 7 running systems. Just enable the ZoneAlarm and then sucessfully update your AVG antivirus. Or else I would suggest you to check out your virus vault for following few files. If you find them, delete them from your system and then restart the system to see the changes
    • C:\WINDOWS\system32\DRIVERS\tsxt_kern_i386.sys.RMV
    • C:\WINDOWS\system32\DRIVERS\wowhd_kern_i386.sys.RMV
    • C:\WINDOWS\system32\DRIVERS\csiidecoder_kern_i386.sys.RMV
    • C:\WINDOWS\System32\DLA\DLAIFS_M.SYS.RMV

If deleting the above files is also not solving your issue then most probably you should try to reinstall your sound drivers. This is because, many people solved their problem following these steps.

Re: Windows XP/7 machines are crashing after updating AVG

I have some tips and solution for the same that can help you to fix this issue. This can be due to the user32.dll file. Windows crash normally when AVG take user32.dd a virus. So for the system protection it deletes the important system file. To repair this boot in safe mode. Run avg and then go in virus valut. You can see the file user32.dll there. Click on restore and boot in normal mode.
