Update AVG 2011 without internet connection

Recently, I read about AVG 2011 that it has been rated number 1 in virus detection and removal. So I downloaded it and it worked just as it said. So, I also installed it on my computer which is in my native village, where there is no internet connection, and the one which has an internet connection has extremely low speed. So, the question is there a way by which, I can update my AVG 2011 antivirus without an internet connection there.

Does, your pc and the pc at your native place have same version, of AVG 2011 ? If yes, then there is a better way out, and IF no, then you just need to find a pc with the same version of avg as your pc at native place has. When you find that just update that avg version with the latest update from the internet and then just copy the following four files namely (upd_vers.cfg, microavi.avg, incavi.avm, miniavi.avg) from the directory named C and then move on the to the program file folder and then to Gridsoft and then avg 2011.And the paste these file to the same folder as you removed from.

The above user might have strong luck while updating his anti-virus program because a simple incomplete or wrong file update may leave the system getting corrupted. I think copying update files directly to your pc might damage your registry. So instead of trying to copy and paste the file try using the avg site directly and download the latest update directly to your pen-drive and then run this on your native pc. This would more effectively update the anti-virus .

You can also try to cut paste the entire folder to a flash drive and then go to place where you have an internet connection. There open your flash drive and paste the cut – paste folder to exactly the same directory and folder which was present at your computer. The click on some file that has an extension of .cfg . Let the computer then update it , when it is done with updating cut the whole folder and paste it to your pc with does not have a internet connection.

You can right click on the update manager and select the option of update and choose the source where the update file having a .dat extension is stored. This would update the file automatically as if it is been updated from the internet. So next time you don ‘t have a internet connection or you have low internet bandwidth, Try downloading the latest .dat file for the anti-virus from its official site and then follow the same method , I told you .

You can download the desired version of the avg anti-virus (hope-fully above avg 9) and then go to avg ‘s official site and select download update for selected version . then select the directory for downloading the files . When downloading is over copy the files to your pen-drive and then open these files on the remote pc that does not have a internet connection. Then install the anti-virus version and skip the update parts as you would do a manual update then. After the installation is completed then go to avg ‘s menu bar and click on tools and then choose update from directory and this would update your anti-virus .
