Slow internet while using WNR2000

I was having Microsoft windows XP operating system installed on my DELL Inspiron 6400 laptop. For accessing the internet on my laptop I purchased Netgear WNR2000 wireless router. I successfully installed and configured WNR2000 router. Everything was going fine. From last few months I am facing problem while accessing the internet. While browsing the internet on my laptop, the speed is getting affected. I need a solution so that I can troubleshoot slow internet problem.

If you are using wireless router for browsing the internet and internet speed is slow then you can easily troubleshoot this problem. You can solve the speed problem by checking the wireless card in your laptop. There are two different type of wireless card thus one for computer and other for laptop. The wireless card is responsible for slowing down the internet speed for the Netgear WNR2000 router. You can make use of G-series which is having better speed than B-series cards.

Your wireless router speed depends upon the signal. If you are using Netgear WNR2000 wireless router for browsing the internet then the signal in Netgear wireless router is sent through radio waves. If the radio waves of the Netgear router is interference with the devices such as cell phones, IPods etc which also uses radio waves and if both the radio waves gets interference then you might have slow speed. You should keep the Netgear wireless router away from the devices which also use radio waves.

Due to interference these specific range cannot be achieved. You can check the Netgear router by making use of Netgear utility. When the Netgear utility shows green color it means the signal is strong, yellow color determine weak and red color determine no signal.
