How setup to up primary DNS server on the router

Hello friends I have a Windows Server 2005 machine setup as my major domain controller with AD installed on it. I can attach to my domain from of my client by manually specify the interior address of this server as the client's prime DNS server address. However I would akin for this process to be computerized. So when a new client joins on my network, the router should automatically allocate my domain controller Internet Protocol address (192.168.0.1) as the client's prime DNS address. At present all the clients get the router's interior of Internet Protocol address as the default DNS server address. So I have to physically adjust on each client's ethernet adapter property to spot to my domain controller.
I am supposing that I have to denote the interior address of my server as the router's chief DNS server, though when I try to do that, nothing changes. The clients maintain to get my router's IP as their crucial DNS. Currently I m utilizing a Netgear WNDR3700 router inside my pc. So please reply to my post.

Re: How setup to up primary DNS server on the router

Any DHCP services which you are running for your network first edit that, and have it leaflet the LAN Internet protocol (IP) address of your DC, as the one and merely DNS server. Your router will default to have DHCP enabled, and it will defaulting to handout itself as a DNS forwarder, or hand out your IPs 2x DNS servers...which naturally, will crack dynamic directory on your network. Workstations have to make use of the Internet protocol (IP) deal with of your area controllers for DNS, which is not the router setback, and not you are ISPs servers, or any other public DNS servers.so, I favor you to have my servers sprint the DHCP, rather than the router. Keeps lively directory running tighter, earlier/improved client DNS registration, etc.

Re: How setup to up primary DNS server on the router

Thank you friend for your response to my post. So basically I could just have my router connect to my modem, assigned a public stationary IP address to the router, disable DHCP on it and utilize a DNS server connect to that router as the DHCP router. Right ?
conveying the NIC on the server with a stationary internal address ... something like 192.168.0.1 and the default entry would be the router's LAN IP e.g. 192.168.1.3. Also I will be use the server as my DNS too so the NIC's prime dns would read "127.10.10.1" with suitable DNS forwarders which will configured on the server that spot to my ISP's DNS.
Please approve me if I am incorrect in my above steps. So at this summit if I connected a wireless consumer similar to a laptop to my router using wi-fi, would it repeatedly notice my DHCP server and get an address allocate from it ?

Re: How setup to up primary DNS server on the router

Yeah for increasing the level of security, I constantly set the servers DNS to frontward to Open DNS servers, 208.67.222.211 and 208.67.220.209. There is increased in the level of the protection from malware and Trojan’s etc as they block known malware distribute the various sites. Convincingly your workstations cannot able to download what they cannot able to the resolve problem. If there is no server for the internet connection on the network, I will suggest you to set the routers WAN side to those DNS servers, or modify the routers DHCP service to hand out those internet protocol addresses as an alternative of the ISP’s DNS servers.
