How to set a firewall on home network

Now a day to prevent your computer from virus entering into our network is a trivial task. I wanted to set up a network firewall using wireless router. But I’m confused how I should configure it. I think set up will Include cable modem to server, server to wireless router and wireless router to other computer. But still I’m not able to configure it don’t know where is the actual problem. Those who are having good knowledge about networking please help me out.

Using the Internet we can get connected to any other computer, no matter how far the two are located from each other on the network. But this facility usually may be a nightmare for network support staff, which is left with a very difficult job of trying to protect the corporate networks from a variety of attacks. As a result of these dangers, we must have mechanisms which can ensure that the inside information remains inside, and also prevents the outsider attackers from entering inside a corporate network. This is where Firewall is needed.

I think Router works well with cables , connectivity is very good. But when we connect wireless it provides strong signal but it is unable to connect on internet with WEP security. When I disable the security wireless router works very efficiently but it does connect with WEP security On , I even tried to install CD but it didn’t worked for me.. Later when I called a technician he reset the router and left for (2-5) minutes and then he took off the power and left it on for 2-5 minutes again before he was connecting or doing anything else.

One of the most trivial task is to configure your router which makes me come back to square. But still I have managed to configure my router. This are the following steps by which we can configure wireless security on a router:
1> Connect your device with the Wi-Fi at port no. 1 it is very important to connect the wires physically to your computer, make sure that light is Blinking and its status is connected properly.
2> The seond step is to access your router from web browser which very simple.
3> Click on the wireless at top.
4> After clicking on wireless, click on wireless security.
5> After clicking on wireless security click on security mode as WPA -PERSONAL
6> Then ,select WPA alogorithm as TKIP
7> In WPA Shared Key type: "Systematic" or any thing else but it should be at least 8 characters long. and you should remember it as this will be your wireless password , once your setting is saved then you cannot forgot your password.
8> The Group Renewal key should be 3600. Make sure that your Group renewal key is 3600 only.
9> Click on save settings at the bottom. Whatever setting you have changed will be saved.

Personalizing your wireless network name involves five basic step which includes as follows:
1> Under Wireless section , click on Basic wireless settings.
2> MODE: mixed Make sure you select only mixed mode
3> NAME: <WHAT EVER U WANT> CHANGE IT eg DELTA, CHARLIE etc
    4> Channel: 11
5> SSID BROADCAST: ENABLED Last but most important step SSID broadcast should be enabled not disabled. Remember this final step for personalizing your wireless network.

Router is configured properly and now connect it to your device.
