169.X.X.X IP address problem instead of 192.X.X.X

I am using a desktop machine which is been installed with Windows Xp. The problem that I am facing is with the IP address of my system. I have Internet connection enabled. Sometimes my Ip address starts as 169.X.X.X instead it should start as 192.X.X.X. This results that the connection says Ip address is invalid. I do not know what could have been causing this. It sometimes gets resolve by itself that is by rebooting the system 3-4 times. Please help me out in this case so that I can work well and my Ip address do state as 192.X.X.X.

As you are receiving this kind of issue it is basically due to bad connection. When you get 169.Ip address this is because Windows automatically assigns it as the ip address as it was not obtained from DHCP server. A bad connection or problem with the DHCP server may have caused. It for sorting the issue all you have to do is to open the command prompt that is by typing cmd in Run command and hit enter. Now type ipconfig/release and ipconfig/renew. This will let the ip address of your system to be renewed and you can then work well that is the ip address would then state as 192.X.X.X. Look for the conclusion. I am sure this will let your system to work well with the address.

I would suggest you to use the application that is WinSock Xp Fix. This application basically is used to offer a last resort if the connectivity has been corrupt and this can be done due to invalid or removed registry entries. This application has the feature that is to cure the problem that is caused due to lost connection after the removal of adware components improper removal of firewall applications which basically modifies XP network and Winsock Settings. If you are not able to resolve the issue that is by using Registry clean up tool you can make use of Winsock Xp fix. This will create a registry back up of the current settings and it is safe to use. This restores the connectivity. So check by using the application that is assisted. You may then be able to work well with the internet

You have to assign manually the IP address settings. For assigning you have to check out the properties tab that will be mentioned in the Network adapter. Now assign the address as 192.X.X.X and if you are using this as the default gateway in order to enable locally connected system to access to internet. now in the properties tab you have to click on TCP/IP and then assign the the address that will be provided by the ISP that is Internet Service provider. The default subnet mask will be 255.255.255.0. Now you will get the required information for Preffered DNS no and other parameters from service provider. Assign it and then restart the system. Also make sure that before performing the steps you have to first remove the drivers for the network card and then make it reinstall. Get the updated drivers for the same and then assign the parameters or implement the assisted steps.

There are certain steps which needs to be followed. Do look out for the thing that is mentioned as follows:
    • You have to renew the Ip address and for this it is essential that you unplug the router and it should be directly connected from outer to system. It will be better that you bypass the router by unplugging the cables from router to modem to the system
    • Now you have to open up the Network connect from the control panel then navigate to network and sharing center and on left under Tasks and click on Manage Network connection. A Window will then open up and you may then be able to see the Local Area connection You have to disable the same by right clicking on it
    • As you have disabled the connection unplug the power to modem. Now by performing the steps you have to release the ip address
    • Now you have to leave the modem to be powered off for 20-30 seconds. Give your modem a time for one minute to be reset. The lights may be back to normal in 20sconds or so
    • Now as the modem is been reset you then have to go back to local area connection and then make it enable which was been previously disabled. Now you may see a word that is enabling below the Local Area connection and it is been quickly followed by Acquiring Network address. The Ip address will be renewed. Check out and then restart the system

The above suggest steps will help you to get resolve of the issue.

Another way through which you can make the things to get work that is you have to unplug the router and modem. Now wait for a minute or two. As this is been done you have to plug the modem back and perform a reset for the router. Now restart the router and then let all the green lights appear. Assign the address by getting it from the ISP and then restart the system. Hope this will solve your problem.
