    Security Center Not Working properly

I really don't believe that my Windows Firewall is working. When I click on the icon I acquire the message "Due to an unidentified trouble, Windows cannot show Windows Firewall Settings". When I click on Security Centre I obtain a message that, it is not operational and requires to be started. Though, when I go in to services there is no choice for Security Centre to decide, so I am not able to manually begin it or set it to Automatic. I am an XP user. If anyone has any ideas, then please help me. I am not very tacky so easy suggestion please!!!

Let me try to fix your problem. To enable Windows Firewall, simply follow below steps:
    1. Click on Start -> Run. Type the ‘Firewall.cpl’, and click OK.
    2. On the General tab click on (recommended).
    3. Click OK.

If the General tab or the on (recommended) option is engaged, the system may have a rule against running the firewall. Contact the system administrator if you require any more information about how to start or enable the firewall. In adding together, the system may previously be running a third-party firewall. If this is not helpful for you to solve your problem than please contact the system administrator for more help in formative whether a firewall is already running on the system.

I see your problem, and I am glade full to help you. Normally speaking, yourself start the service with the initially account for e.g., start the Security Center with the Local Service account will not result in some terrible result. Though, as the computer was infected with Trojan before, certain service or system file may have been tainted/corrupted or modified. The formally recommended technique is to format and reinstall the compromised computer.

If you receive the message like: "THE SPECIFIED DEVICE INSTANCE HANDLE DOES NOT CORRESPOND TO A PRESENT DEVICE", this usually means that service is not installed properly. Therefore, I think that the service is corrupted. So here I am must suggest you that please try to perform a system restore. If you don’t have any idea how to do system restore than just visit the Microsoft.com. I have the link where you find this: http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Win...f01033.mspx#E2. After doing the system restore, please open the ‘services.msc’, double-click the service Security Center- Log On tab- Browse, type Local Service below Enter the object name to select, click Check Names- click OK, after this remove the password and simply click Apply- OK. After that, please attempt to start the service once more. If it successes, try to open Security Center.

Re: Security Center Not Working properly

Have you ever installed any software or made any modify to the system before this problem takes place?? I have some steps which helps you to resolve your issue:
    1. First Click on Start- search, type “services.msc” in the Search box, and then press Enter.
    2. In the Services console, double-click on Security Center, modify the Startup Type to Automatic (Delayed Start), and click Start below Service position.
    3. After doing this, please open Security Center to ensure if the issue is resolved.

Please be familiar with that we may require trace/debug to analyze the matter if the Security Center service cannot be started.
