    Throughput Testing on a 100 Mbps Ethernet Line

    We have an issue between the two points on the net which is, I am using. It is anywhere between three switches, a dell 5324 and two 3024's. The center 3024 is acting as transmit because we are more than 100 Meters between the two outer switch. The center 3024 has a VLAN setup with now two ports allocated, 5 and 6. All links copper (CAT5e). I supposed to shape the fact that I put none of this up and not able to arrive at the person who did. So it looks like this:
    5324<---------><5>3024<6><--------->3024
    please make sure my math and troubleshooting thoughts:
    The two external switches are default config with the entire ports in the default VLAN. I have got rid of them as a reason by moving the CAT5 cable to one more port. The center switch has 4 of these two-port VLANS config, so I was with no trouble able to get rid of them as the reason by moving the patch cables to a dissimilar VLAN. So what I have to do make it correct please suggest me as soon as you people can.

    I think sometimes it is happen because of the cable issue also. Or it may be because of the previous box plugged in at that port had matters. And in this at least here is one thing is that if it is taking so much of time so then you are likely running at closer to 10 Mbit. In this you are able to do one thing which is try to reset to full duplex or auto, and in this enable the flow control. So I think it is going to help you and may be this trick able to fix your issue also.

    I am grateful for verifying the math. I have to guess that the wiring is really awful and for all time has been. We have high-quality services people who do not understand that it is bad to wrap a 100 meter CAT5e cable around a fluorescent pipe 29 times. Awful thing is the bottleneck is 7 or 8 years old the x-admin unnoticed it and without being seen my advice, which is why he is no more. I am eager to run fiber by the ending of this year and GB switches are ordered! The vernal, appreciated, but 100 Mbs PIX on the other end of the outer 3024 will soon be substitute with an ASA 5510. Anyone have Cisco ASA experience? OK I confess it, I am frightened.

    You almost certainly have admittance to some. If not, TTCP and its Windows port PCATTCP able to do the job. This will issue out file transfer protocol above your head, file system / drive bottlenecks, etc., and provide you with any luck quite stable unadulterated network performance numbers with less trash to clean up merely the test application to run on both endpoints. IIRC, no installation is necessary. When you go to gigabit, you are going to have to go to such tools distinctive HD's will bottleneck and will not inform you what your underlying network is able to. Assuming of course that you go to gigabit this decade, and HD's and file transfer protocols do not create gigabit unimportant by that time. So just check this I hope I will help you.

    It sounds like you have some budget to play with. You just find out some reputable firm in your area and have them bring a coincidence in and run a number of tests on the various lines. Then you should be able to get this thing done just for a few hundred bucks. And it is totally worth it. In this also consider the time which it will save for you. And in this you also confirm that they are able to provide the on paper report to remain on file. In this I am also presumptuous that your switches do not have any fiber ports. And you could always het the pair of media converters for the time being and try to link them together with the single mode fiber. It will eliminate the need which is relay in between. Then when you acquire your new switches, immediately put the media converters in the storage space closet and plug the fiber in a straight into the new switches.
