Router turns off when Laptop tries to connect

I have a Dynalink rta1025w modem/router that turns off every time i try to connect with my laptop. Every other device in the house (PS3, 2 PCs running Windows 7) manage to connect without any problems.

I have an ASUS PRO31S running Vista, I pick up the signal and press ‘connect’ and the three lights on the router turn off and reset themselves and i get an error message saying that windows did not get a response from the network device. it seems strange that my laptop is turning of the router.

Are your other devices up and utilizing your internet bandwidth when you try to connect through your laptop? May be you have some applications on those devices which consume a lot of your network and this forces your router to restart. Also update your router firmware. It might help you a lot.

Thanks. But i fixed the problem, though i don't know what the problem was.
I went to 'manage network connections' and disabled the wireless device (intel(R)WiFi Link) then i enabled it again and so far i haven't had any problems

The issue looks like with the firmware of the router. You can go on the official site of the router and download the most newest update for that. The same works easily. Just download and run the update. You can also do that directly from Device Manager by right clicking and then choose update the same. Then follow the screen instructions windows will download some proper update for the same.
