    Test the anti-spyware/malware protection

I am using the Windows XP operating system with 1 GB RAM and COre2Duo processor. The tool that I am using in my system to keep it protected is AVG because I have heard that it is recommended for the removal of trojans, worms and almost all sorts of other infections. It also has an anti-spyware tool, that keeps an eye on all the malicious activities, if any, that are going on within the system. I wanted to know how I can test the anti-spyware/malware protection. Please provide some assistance.

    Re: Test the anti-spyware/malware protection

There are many sites available on the internet, that can be used to test the anti-spyware/malware protection. But, the best one that I found is "spycar.org". It contains about 17 tests, that checks out the ability of the security tool to handle every kind of malicious problem that can encounter the system.

I have tested Spyware Doctor at this site and it was able to pass all of them successfully. Anyways, I know that it is the best anti-malware available in the market. Anyone who checks their security tool, please reply here about how many tests the particular tool passed.

I tested the the Avast antivirus on the website that is provided in the above post. It was able to pass all the tests there. All the infections were blocked by this antivirus. I am very much satisfied by this antivirus because it has a varied feature of boot scanning, that takes place before the startup of the operating system. So, it can eradicate the infections, when they are inactive.

    Re: Test the anti-spyware/malware protection

I tried out 2-3 antivirus in my system for the Test the anti-spyware/malware protection. Here are the results that I came across:
    • AVG: Did not pass most of the tests.
    • Avira: Passed all of them.
    • Microsoft Security Essentials: Passed all of them.
    • Norton 360: Passed all of them.
    • Comodo: Failed in 3 of the tests.

On testing all of these tools, I have decided to stay with Norton 360.

    Re: Test the anti-spyware/malware protection

As I am using AVG antivirus, all the tests in the anti-spyware/malware protection were no passed, as tried out already by Zachary. I suppose that AVG does not secure the system, as friendly the user-interface is. I do not prefer Norton because it makes the entire system slow. I suppose that I will be switching to Avira. Thanks for all your responses on this topic.
