How to access Mac and Window 7 on the same network?

I want to know how to access the Mac OS X and the Window 7 on the same network, I need this because I want to share a disk on Mac OS to the system which is having Window 7 as the operating system. Right now I only have the idea to share file on same operating system but the thing is that now I require to share the files between different operating systems. Any related reply will be appreciated.

I am not saying that this is very much simple but it is not that difficult to do that if you have the basic knowledge of the operating system. You just need to follow these simple steps for doing this.

First you have to go to start menu and then search of the limited and the press enter. Then you can choose the limited security Policy then search for the Security option. Now double click on the Network Security then LAN administrator verification. After you reach their change the level to “Send LM # LTLM Responses”

    Now in the next OS
You have to go to Network security and look for the “Least session security for NTLM SSP” after that unchecks require 128 bit encryption and then press ok. That’s it, after this you will be able to share the files.

Well I am having better option for this, if you want to see the window folder on the Mac Operating system that is public in windows that you can do that very easily. Just verify the windows host name that in the common list finder. If you have common any folder on windows then you will be able to see after you choose the host name.

I am using leopard and if you are using the same you do not need to worry about anything because in leopard you do not need to change any setting related to that. If the folder is shared from the window side then you will be able to see folder but I not then you just have to share the folder from preference setting and then you will be able to see the folder.

I am new to this field of networking just started learning basics related to that, I have tried to the things that are mentioned in the above replies but the I do not why this is not working for me. Here is what I have tried to do. I have changed the settings the restart the machine as it is mentioned by the system. Both the systems are showing that they are connected and can be seen easily but the thing is when I am trying to share the file I am not able to do that. Has anybody else faced this problem?

I have tried to get the window 7 and Mac OS X for sharing the file. I have made the changes in the security setting as it was mentioned above. Both the systems are connected to the same router. The files that are shared can be seen in the finder of Mac OS X. I have also tried the same thing with the window XP and Mac OS X the result is same. Till now there is no problem. The problem is coming when I am transferring data from one system. At that time I am getting the error of connection fail.

You can share any file on window operating system from Mac OS X by just following these steps.
    1. First you just need to click on GO
    2. After that select the option for “Connect to server”
    3. After that you need to type sm: / ipaddress of the computer from which you want to share file/
    4. The last thing is left clicking on connect.

This has worked for me on windows XP, windows 7 and also on Window server 2008
