A dongle D-Link DWL-122 which is actually a replacement for the airport card, exactly what you need!!! In your case, I do not know what exists to replace a wifi card but I can tell you that the USB to the network it's fine, especially on Macs. It's a shame to buy something, to lose time for nothing, being so close to realizing that it is not so stable. Afterwards, if a pin in your iBook is broken, tries, but if you can avoid ... Ask the guy to do a test before you if you sell something, at least it works!!

You can also go for the TIME CAPSULE 500 GB. You can use this to make restorations to your computer in case of MAC, and to practice good is a wireless external hard drive, and also brings the function of both wired and wireless router, and if estimation is not enough you can connect your printer to utilize wirelessly via wi-fi and buy all computers connected through your TIMECAPSULE.

You can replace an Airport card (not Extreme) card by Sony. You should be knowing that the Sony has also manufactured an Original AirPort Card that is distinguishable by the Sony label and the top antenna. A more powerful wireless access point is one possibility. There are two Mac-compatible drivers that will work with most PC card-based 802.11b receivers, including the Sony card.

I know about the Sony but it is also expensive and as outdated as the airport classic. Anyway, I'm sure I can manage with what I have, it lacks very little in my opinion. Already a driver issue for the DWL 122 (MA111 on the subject is interesting for that matter) because it downloads a package called "OsxUsbDriver1.3.2.tar" but having installed, I see the info the key "wireless adapter settings" number of the driver version: 1.3.1. Anyways extremely thanks for the support.

If you want my honest opinion. Let dropped the dongle (USB key WiFi). Buy a single point of access. No driver, easy to install (especially the latter). Only one problem, the power supply: via USB is provided by the computer, then there will be a transformer. But if you do not need the WiFi in the street, it will. We must find equivalents in other manufacturers. The first is in the same rates. This is an access point but the "back", he will adapter. It can also do WPA over WEP. It will be harder to resolve.

If you are having the problem of wifi on macbook, then follow the steps :
    1. Make a repair permissions, restarting the installation CD.
    2. Once a repair done, reboot.
    3. Select the network and re enter the wep key.

If there is no major issue then everything should be back to normal.
