    error when compiling clamav-0.95.tar.gz

I am trying to do sudo freshclam on my ubuntu pc and i am getting an error which says that "your clamav installation is outdated. Don't Panic" message. So i have tried installing a new clamav and when i try to install the tarball then i have been stopped at './configure' step. Can anybody help me to install clamav in my computer? I am running Jaunty currently and sudo apt-get install clamav still shows me an outdated clamav-0.94.

I think you must be doing something wrong at the time of compiling clamav. If you are trying to compile it from the source then you need to ell configure the username and group. For example $ ./configure --with-user=clamav --with-group=clamav. But before doing it, Do not forget to create a clamav group and put the clamav user in it.

I have seen it in your post that in an error, There is a space leaved between the "http:" and the "//ppa...". I think there should not be any kind of space like that. As i do not have any ideas about an error which you have provided us. I think that there should not be theses spaces as it might happen that you would be getting this errors because of the space and as these are the links given for the source files which must be having no error in path specification.

I think the database directory would be a writable for UID 113 or GID 127. It seems that there are an incorrect permissions for /usr/local/share/clamav. I would like to ask you that have deleted the clamav group as well as the user before doing the apt-get? user & group specified in the /usr/local/etc/clamd.conf must be matching with an User ID 113 and /etc/passwd and /etc/group with the Group ID 127. If you have built it from the source then you have to uninstall it and then reinstall it again.
