    How to avoid W32/Virut.remnants

Hello everyone, I keep getting irritating alerts of W32/Virut.remnants entering from the internet. I am able to get rid of them with the help of the Avast antivirus, that I am using in my system. But, I keep getting the alerts again and again. This happens only when I am connected to the web. I am not able to understand why this is happening. I am using Windows XP Service pack 3 and my browser is Opera 10. Please help me with some solutions on how to avoid W32/Virut.remnants as soon as possible.

    Enable the automatic updates

Inorder to avoid W32/Virut.remnants, I think that you must enable the automatic updates, as given in the steps below:
    • Click on Start.
    • Then, go to Control Panel.
    • Here, select System and Maintenance.
    • Now, click on Windows Updates.
    • There, you have to select the recommended setting.

The above steps will help you to change the environment of the system because of which the infections wont be able to do anything even after they enter into the system.

Do not open file transfers from unknown users

My advice to you is that do not open file transfers from unknown users. This will help you to avoid W32/Virut.remnants in a very simple manner. It is possible that the users who chat with you on the internet may be attackers. Many a times, they send some files to you, that they will mention to be having some good stuff or very useful. They may actually contain such types of infections that are entering your system.

    Re: How to avoid W32/Virut.remnants

It is a type of trojan program which works on itself. It is quiet recommended that you must boot in safe mode and run a full system scan for this. For this I had went through lots of solutions. At last I used Hijack this and found the location of the virus. I deleted the same and not it not yet detected back. Trojan are quiet a serious threat to the system.
