    Hi,

what is the application, is it a filebased application, (developed in VB) or a web based application or a DOS Based application (e.g Foxpro)

    Hello,
You can even move the data base from one place to the other, if you are using Sql or oracle like data base then you have to take the back up of the database from the respective software and then restore to the remote machine where you are planning to switch. If it is a file based database then you can simply move the file to the remote machine and simply connect to the application that you are using.

yes i am looking to setup it in such a way where the application can be accessed over the WAN.

actucally i have one server and 30 pcs in my office , the problem is every pc client has got his own harddisk and the programmes are installed on them.

i donot want harddisk in my client pcs, all the programmes i want to install on my server so that if i change my office place then it is easy to install them.

what all i needed to have like this.

    Hi,

    You have multiple options

    1. Install Terminal Server in your Windows Server (Enterprise edition comes with 25 license included). Create users in this server. Install your application in this server. Users will make remote desktop on this server & will work on it. If reports via your application needs to be printed or stored in user's hard disk, it can be do so by mapping the lpt/printer & hard disk mapping inr emote desktop.

    2. You can install a software publishing product e.g citrix or go global. Install goglobal server software in your server. Install your application in the server, just publish the application in the goglobal server.

Install goglobal client software in users computers & they can connect to the goglobal server which will showup your published application. Users can doubleclick the application & it will be open. This way the application needs to be published only on the server & doesnt needs to be installed in your client computers. Drive/Printer mapping is available in goglobal.

by the way if you are you trying to hide your confindential data then this solution is good so that if anybody checks your client computer's data, they wont get anything
