    Win32/Ceekat.gen!A slowing internet browsing

My computer is really being severely infected by the Win32/Ceekat.gen!A detection. My computer's installed anti-virus AVG detects the Win32/Ceekat.gen!A malicious program but it cannot remove this threat. If I select the delete action the anti-virus program hangs. My internet browsing speed is also slowed down by this Win32/Ceekat.gen!A detection. How can I remove it from my computer?

Win32/Ceekat.gen!A is a Trojan belonging to Win32/Ceekat Family

Win32/Ceekat.gen!A is a Trojan that derives from the Win32/Ceekat family of Trojans. The main intention of these Trojans is to hack the user's Online account used for playing games. Using this information the user gets spam mails containing malicious contents. Also the infected user's machine memory is read directly by these Trojans. This helps them to monitor user's action in order to track user's important data.

    Win32/Ceekat.gen!A hack Internet Explorer

The Win32/Ceekat.gen!A is Ceekat Trojan variant. This Trojan aims to explore the vulnerability of Internet Explorer. It easily infects the IE browser and adds its own code to redirect the user to malicious websites. It can also spy on the information sent through the IE browser to steal user's password. Thus it is considered safe to use Fire-Fox rather than internet Explorer.

    Enable Windows Firewall

The Detected trojan or even other malicious programs such as virus, worms can make way to your computer system if there is no Firewall installed. So I suggest you to first enable Windows Firewall. The steps to enable Windows Firewall in Windows Vista are:
    1. Open the Start Menu.
    2. Open Security.
    3. Click Turn Windows Firewall on or off.
    4. Select On.
    5. Click OK.
Once the Windows Firewall is enable you can then scan your computer System to detect and delete the trojan.

    Re: Win32/Ceekat.gen!A slowing internet browsing

I have checked my Windows Firewall, it is already enabled. But then too the trojan is present on my computer. I even tried the Safe mode to delete the trojan but it was not detected in Safe mode. When I went to System Restore Utility I could not restore system because my computer's restore points were corrupted. So what can I do other than this to delete the Win32/Ceekat.gen!A malicious program?

    Format Windows Drive

From the information provided by you I only guess you are left with the option to format your Windows Drive. But before you format Windows Drive make sure you take the backup of all your required important files and folders. Also you need not format your entire Hard drive but only the drive that is having Windows installed.
