Need to delete this Worm.HTML.Jer

My AVG antivirus is giving me an alert message that Worm.HTML.Jer is detected on my computer system. I am trying to delete this worm from my computer system but I am unable to do so. I have no idea why this is happening in my computer system. I need to know how to delete this Worm.HTML.Jer from my computer system. If possible please also mention some of the preventive measure for avoiding problem like these.
