How NAS drive is better than SAN drive

    hi
i am mca student.Actually i am using DAS for working my profile. But i am facing some problem due to it.Actually i am facing some problem like inefficient data allocation,in that system uncertain data availability as well as there are no guarantee that users are backing up.Actually i just heard about NAS system,it is better than it but i also heard about SAN.So right now i am confused. So please tell me which one is suitable for me or which one i should be take?

NAS is also called Network-attached storage which is a file level data storage, which connected to network of computer that providing data access to heterogeneous network clients.A NAS unit is work like connector which connected fro computer to network that provide file-based data storage services to other devices. But in SAN process,it is also called storage area network, which is not provide the "file" abstraction, only block-level operations.A SAN typically is its own network of storage devices that are generally not accessible through the regular network by regular devices. It is easier to share files with NAS.

A storage area network (SAN) is work like an architecture to attach remote computer storage devices .Make sure that A SAN alone does not provide the "file" abstraction,it just only block-level operations. In other hand NAS systems contain one or more hard disks, often arranged into logical, redundant storage containers.NAS system also use in Windows® and UNIX® home directories hosting.many times NAS use for Simplified data and infrastructure manageability .

Comparable NAS is more useful than SAN.Because the systems performance can be grow by NAS.The file serving is done by the network attachment storage, and it not done by a server responsible for also doing other processing. You can also use A clustered NAS is a NAS that is using a distributed file system running simultaneously on multiple servers. The main difference between a clustered and traditional NAS is is the ability to distribute data and meta data across the cluster nodes or storage devices.NAS can enable simpler and lower cost systems such as load-balancing and fault-tolerant email and web server systems by providing storage services

You can use some different types of devices like The HP Media Vault M2120 is flexible in that it features one hard drive and a free bay for easy data expansion or protection as well as you can also use other type of device like The Buffalo LinkStation Mini is the smallest (and quietest) NAS enclosure. In that type of products you can also updated in windows vista as well as windows xp operating system. But make sure that the NAS has its limitations compared to the DAS/SAN systems. It should be noted that NAS is effectively a server in itself, with all major components of a typical PC – a CPU, motherboard, RAM, etc
