    Win32/Rimecud.AC detection on GTalk

I have installed McAfee anti virus on my desktop. I am running Windows Vista on an Intel Core 2 Duo Processor. I am using the Gigabyte motherboard with 3 gigs DDR-2 RAM. I use GTalk for chatting online. But from the past three to four days whenever I open GTalk I get a security warning from McAfee regarding Win32/Rimecud.AC detection. I have scanned my computer number of times but still not able to fix this.

    Re: Win32/Rimecud.AC detection on GTalk

The Win32/Rimecud.AC is worm that is categorized into a special family of worm- Win32/Rimecud. The worms of this family have been recorded to spread through instant messaging. Another very known medium of these worms to spread is from the removable storage drives of an infected machine. The reason these are considered harmful malicious programs is because they allow the remote access of the infected machine through backdoors.

Uninstall GTalk and use some other Messenger

My suggestion is that you need to first uninstall GTalk messenger as I guess this messenger might be infected by the threat detected by your anti virus. So to be on the safer side you can try using some other messenger such as Yahoo Messenger. Make sure you download the messenger from either the official site or some trusted sites. There are number of malicious web sites that also provide the download of yahoo messenger which is a malicious setup.

    Re: Win32/Rimecud.AC detection on GTalk

According to the suggestions I switched to Yahoo messenger from GTalk. But still the same security warning from McAfee regarding Win32/Rimecud.AC detection was generated. I had downloaded the messenger from official site. I also tried the Rediff messenger - Rediff Bol, but again the same warning was given by McAfee. I believe that I have to change my anti virus.
