    FTP Connection impossible

I try in vain for some time to configure the ports for FTP from the IPCop but this does not work. Yet when I pass through the firewall, it works and I can access my FTP. Whenever I pass by it, I am writing "Log: Failed". Can you explain me how to configure it to work through the firewall?

Look in Ipcop firewall menu, port forwarding ...

    source port 21
dest ip address: ip address of your FTP in DMZ
    destination port 21

What are the minimum parameters for operation of basic ftp! Check box is ticked enabled (default is the case).

With a few more items, it will be easier to help.

    Re: FTP Connection impossible

You seem to have understood that there was an internal FTP server (and need to configure "port forwarding"). I had thought that the flow was the other way!

Unfortunately, lack of information, I do not know exactly what to make of the situation so described.

As it stands, nothing is known:
    - Is there an ftp internally?
    - This is only access to ftp outside? (a situation quite different!)
    - How the ipcop is configured?
    - Is there an area for a possible ISP ftp server?
    - ....

We could save lots of questions ...

From the moment you believe you may have a track with as little information there is no limit ...

There is an issue, but I say, with this description, it is impossible to have a clue. Better not ask questions if it is to give as much information ...

Sorry, it is true that I forgot to put the information you refer to. There is firewall behind an old adsl modem. What I want is to have a shared folder on the internet on a PC on the LAN which has obviously internet too. This is all if you need more information to help me do ask me.

    Re: FTP Connection impossible

This is not much clearer ... For example, one could make the following scheme:

Internet <-> ADSL modem <-> (Red) Ipcop (Green) <-> switch <-> pc internal network

    Red: configured PPPoE (username abc)
    Green: 192.168.1.1/255.255.255.0

The addons are installed ipcop: BOT, Squid SquidGuard (Franck78)

The ipcop dhcp + dns provides network green

The pc in green are configured dhcp.

    It describes (somewhat) the situation.

    The Need:
    - I want to access from outside to a directory (folder) on a Windows PC.
    - I want to access with username / password via a pc commonplace.
    - The source pc is in Green, it is a PC running Windows XP.

    Re: FTP Connection impossible

My setup is for this except that the ip is fixed manually and returned as the dns not to use dhcp. Then how to configure ipcop to access the shared directory knowing that I do not know the ipcop. Thank you for your help.

    Re: FTP Connection impossible

I gave one way (not perfect) to describe a situation. I would like to know what is the situation, what is needed, what are the ideas ...

NB: It is up to you to describe your background!
NB: On what basis you chose FTP as a protocol? Do you think that the host may be important?
NB: Why putting an ipcop if we do not know ipcop ?

In short, we are amazed to see a problem always described as poorly. I said, it will eventually tire ...
