I need some steps to safeguard security of internet explorer. I have a Windows Vista computer with Internet Explorer 8. I had noticed useless pop ups and other bugs in it. The browser is getting freezes may be attacked by some virus or illegal sites. What are the security options in it. And some information on it and how to secure it.

These sites are usually given a high stage of trust. The trusted sites - The sites on which you have a trust. These are given the highest trust, and is vacant after you so that you can install the Windows. Controlled sites - the sites on which you have doubts about. This zone is empty after the Windows installation as well. The rest is the internet.

In this you have the fifth zone in the form of My Computer, but this is generally not configurable. ActiveX pedals that were installed on the computer by Windows run in this zone. The pedals you download do not. Also URLs that orientation files on your computer run in My Computer (files you save from the Internet persist to run in the sanctuary zone attached to that site though).
