    Regsvr.exe at start-up on Dell Vostro A860

What exactly is Regsvr.exe? I am using a Dell Vostro A860 laptop. Wheneevr I boot my Dell laptop I get an Regsvr.exe error kind of a message. I have just connected my Laptop to a Wi-fi recently and from day before yesterday this message is poping up everytime I boot my laptop. Also my friends complain of an autorun.inf virus in their USBs after I plug it in my Laptop. I am using McAfee anti-virus, but I am that this is caused by a Virus.

To make it very clear, regsvr.exe is virus that gets downloaded from web. What this regsvr.exe virus does is really going to blow your mind. This virus actually automatically enables itself everytime you boot your laptop by creating registry entry and crate folders with name Newfolder.exe. This virus is also responsible for generating the Autorun.inf virus which your friends complain. I was using AVG anti-virus and would get this message everytime I boot my laptop. I used to scan with my AVG and remove it. But again when I rebooted my laptop it would again appear back. I then installed AVAST anti-virus and then performed a Schedule-Boot-Time-Scan which helped me ghe rid of this
    regsvr.exe virus.

You can try to scan your entire system in Safe-Mode.
    > Restart your system
    > Keep tapping the F8 key.
    > Select Safe Mode.
Your machine will now boot into Safe Mode. Now run a full system scan with your McAfee. This mode disables all the third party tools and resources. Hope this will help you to remove Regsvr.exe.

Click on Start(or 'Windows Symbol' for Vista users), Click on Run(or 'Search' for Vista users), type-in 'msconfig', click Ok. Next you have to click on the Startup tab and locate the regsvv. Uncheck the Check box for it and press Ok. Go to startup tab look for regsvr and uncheck the option click OK. Now click on the Start Button > Setting > Control Panel. Once here click on Scheduled tasks. Now Delete the AT1 task in that. Again in got to Run and type 'regedit'. This will Open the Registry Editor window for you. In this Click on Edit. Look for the regsvr.exe file. Once located delete all the occurences of that file. And Do not Delete regsvr32.exe.. Now go to C Drive > Windows and delete the regsvr.exe folder only to remove the Regsvr.exe Virus Completely by unchecking its Hide Protected System Files and Folders. This will delete the virus from your system completely. Better keep your Anti-Virus updated to prevent such Virus from creeping in your system.
