Need some information on OpenDNS

Hi,
I need some general information on OpenDNS. What is it and by what does it provide easy access to internet. Normally what I know about this is that it gives a good access to internet without any disturbance. In my network internet is extremely choppy. The connection never stays continuous. I had tried updating drivers and restoring the connection but nothing works out. Then I heard about OpenDNS. Please post some general information on it. Thanks in advance.
