How to remove QTTASK.exe? its present in my task manager and startup too. I find the patch is "C\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\QTTASK.exe". I never saw it before. And haven't installed any new application also. Is it virus or malware?

qttask.exe provided by Apple with QuickTime, installs a tray bar icon which links to the Apple QuickTime video streaming tool. Once QT is launched again (ie like viewing a qt clip on a website) the qttask.exe is back in start up. To disable qttask.exe permanently, do a search of your hard drive , after finding it, rename it to qttask.old. Now it will never start again and it has no effect on QuickTime working.

It is Apple's QuickTime Tray Icon, lets you launch QuickTime from the System Tray. It takes 750KB of memory. If disabled, you can still start Quicktime from its Start menu icon or by clicking on an associated file such as .MOV.

- Perform a DISK CLEANUP as Start -> Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> Disk Cleanup.
- Also do the defrag of your hard disk partitions.
