You can leave the router where it is & get a wireless adapter for the desktop & connect that way if you have a wireless router. You can run it from your current jack to the router in it's new location. Punch through the drywall into the other room & put the wall plate over the new hole.
Follow this steps:
- Pull the cable through the outlet location, leaving about a foot of excess cable for connecting to the actual jack.
- Strip the outside casing of the cable to expose the four pairs of colored twisted wires inside the Ethernet cable.
- Separate the eight wires from one another and untwist the twisted pairs to expose each wire end.
- Strip about one inch of insulation from the end of each of the eight colored wires.
- Slide each wire into the matching color slot in the back of the jack.
- With a Quickport jack, just insert the wires into the jack.
- Carefully attach the jack to the wall plate by snapping it into place
