Cannot update AVG 8.0

Hello friends,
I am using AVG free from last 1 year. But now i cannot update the software and its the only antivirus i have. Whenever i checked for updates, it gives me error that, 'internet connection has failed' but i can browse the net. Can anybody help me to solve this problem?

There are times that the AVG Free update servers do get busy. AVG Free doesn't get access to the high bandwidth servers that the AVG Pro users have access too. So wait for few hours and give another try.

You need to complete uninstall it first and then reinstall. Try going into a different admin account. Turn off any other firewalls if running. Manually download file from AVG free website. Then go into the AVG control panel, under the Tools menu, you will find 'Update from directory' , Browse the downloaded file and try.

Your Internet connection to AVG update servers may stop working in some cases, although standard Internet browsing works correctly. Proceed as follows to rectify such situation:

• Open menu Start =>Settings =>Control Panel.
• Double-click on Network connections.
• Right-click on Local area connection and select Repair.
• Then try to update AVG.

Even if your Internet connection is working correctly, incorrect DNS servers may be filled in, affecting AVG update. This can be caused e.g. by some virus that was previously on your computer. Check your DNS settings in My Network Places.
